  1. Quite a Week! 8 Mar 10

    hello all,

My record has officially been out in the world a week! Quite a week it’s been, driving around the country, doing press and radio, playing shows in places i’ve never played before.

Over 1000 miles in the car this week, gave me plenty of time to listen to joanna newsoms new album (it’s genius). I couldn’t believe the amount of people at the shows so far, this is my first time around
the country playing on my own, and this record for most people is coming completely out of nowhere, so I had resigned myself beforehand to playing in front of a sound engineer and a angry venue owner!!

Doing this the way I’ve been doing it, just putting the record out, not hustling or pressganging anyone (I couldn’t afford to even if I so wanted!), that fact that its being recieved the way it is so far, it’s amazing, I am very grateful.

This week i’ve got a bunch more press and radio to do, all of which i’m really excited to do. Dublin show on friday, just me and my guitar, going to be fuuuuuun!!!

Thanks to the people in Cork, Limerick, Dundalk and Galway who were there, I’m gonna be back so soon and so often you will be sick of ne before u know it.

My friend John is helping me with the website stuff at the moment, and i’m waiting for him to show me how to put blogs up myself, hence the sparsity of them this week. But once he does i’ll be posting a lot, twill be fantastical so it will.

    Happy monday,
    James

  7. Album Details 26 Jan 10

So my first record is coming out on the 26th of february in Ireland. Its called ‘Early in the Morning’, I made it by myself over 6 months in 2009. It was mixed by a guy named Mike Cave in Liverpool, who turned what was a set of shonky sounding recordings into something so much bigger and magical sounding than I ever thought it could be.

It’s an album with a lot of light and shade. I didn’t want to make a folk record that was just me and the guitar. This is my first opportunity to put something in the world, and I wanted it to have it’s big moments as well as it’s little ones. I think thats what i’ve ended up with anyways.

I’ll be playing a lot over the next while, all the dates will be on myspace, and here on the tour page. The album will be available to order here as well, for anyone not in Ireland that wants it right away.

This is all completely new for me, i’m absolutely making it up as i go along. But I am so proud of the piece of music i’ve made, it’s indelibly me.

    Thank you for reading,

    James
